$0.50 Movie Day

We are lucky. We like going to the movies... we love going to the movies. We have a cheap movie theater around. Usually you pay $1 to $2 (depending on the day) for a movie. It's true that the movies showing there are gone from other theaters but they are not 5 year old either. On Mondays it's even cheaper... you pay 50 cents if you buy 3 or more tickets. Yesterday we went to watch Knocked Up. It was very funny!!! Loved the jokes. And come on... any movie for 50 cents and the theater experience is unbeatable.

Last night we set up our alarm clock for 4AM so we could see the eclipse. Guess who was too tired and didn't want to see the eclipse after the alarm went off? Yep... me. It was my idea you know. Ohh well!

Jane Rocks!!!

I just finished reading Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility. It sent me on an emotional roller coaster. I went from curious to anxious to surprise to angry to sad to incredulous to disappointed to more disappointed to completely heart broken to redemption to optimism. It was great. Who knew that an old novel would get my attention and my senses to such an extreme. Well... it is called Sense and Sensibility because of something, right? Jane Austen has a new groupie.

Next stop... finishing The Road by Cormac McCarthy. I didn't know it was going to be such an existentialist book... so it has taken me longer than expected. I'm just not into that theme right now.

I also started The Witching Hour by Anne Rice a while back. That one I'll have to start over. Too many details... but still really good. I already read all the Vampire Chronicles books that came before The Witching Hour. After The Vampire Armand, there are some links to the Mayfair Witches series introduced and I wanted to read about it before following the Vampire Chronicles series.

After The Road... I have to do it... Pride and Prejudice is calling my name.

I had a great weekend. Last Sunday we just chilled here and our friend Nate came to visit and play some Drink & Scrabble. Of course I used the waiting time between words to knit a little bit on my Simple Trekking Socks. And of course I didn't win any of the games. That's what happen when you decide to play a word game with a English teacher.

Then on Monday we went to U of B for a concert. What a concert!!! Dream Theater is amazing live!!! We had a great time there and driving too. Ohh I almost forgot, I also went to the new location of Village Yarn on East Rochester. Cute store and lots of space. I'll definitely go back.

Yesterday, I went shopping for work clothes. I found everything I needed and great prices. But then today I got a call from my employer. I'm not starting on Aug. 27. I'm starting on Sep. 10. Two more weeks. That was a bummer. I'll live.

Regrouping

Hello to those who might read this. I've been everywhere doing not much really, so you would think I would have time to blog. I just was in one of those moods where you have a lot in your mind (good for blogging) but not wanting to do anything with it (bad for blogging and all creative endeavours). But I'm back. I've said this so many times before that I'm not sure how long this energy boost will last. I guess I just need to let it all out and not think too much about it. I really want to blog... I need to express myself... yeah, I should do it... I'm sure it's going to help me a lot.

This summer has been an eventful one. Let me start just by saying that the hubster and I are first time homeowners and we love it!!! We have an amazing, almost 100 years old beautiful house that we adore. Of course it needs some lovin' but we love it all the same. Here it is!!!

5 days after moving to the house we took a little 3 weeks long vacation to Puerto Rico. We had a wonderful time with our family. But by the end of the trip we were missing our comfy bed a lot and we also wanted to go home and enjoy our house for a while. I miss my family already. You can't win when you are so comfortable where you live but at the same time your family is so far away.

I have a new job too. I'm very excited about trying something else other than science. Don't take me wrong, I still love science... however, it is not the right career for me right now. So you ask what are you doing now? Well, I'm giving banking a try. I've only heard good things about the bank (that's always good), so I'm looking forward to starting (Aug. 27 is first day of training).

After moving day (let's make that moving weeks) I haven't done much in the crafting front. Only a couple stitches here and there that don't account for much. But I have too many WIPS; I really want to take care of those before starting anything else. I need to take pictures to show here and to put in Ravelry (which by the way it's AMAZING!!!).

I read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I feel JK Rowling gave us some closure but I'm sad it had to end. It is such a good series. I think she took the safe road (in terms of the story events) but at the same time I'm still amazed by the fact that she put it all together so well. It reads so smoothly and flows very well. Overall, awesome ending to the series.

That's it for now... I hope to be back with some pictures. See ya soon...
